Network Templates

Version 1.3.0 adds a template discovery and selection flow for customers purchasing new networks. Use network templates when you want each new customer network to start from a prepared structure, design, content library, or vertical-specific setup.

Template previewer

The network template previewer lets customers browse available templates before checkout. Each template can be opened in a live preview panel, so customers can compare layouts and content before they purchase a network.

Use the previewer to help customers:

  • Review the look and structure of each available network template
  • Compare multiple templates without leaving the purchase flow
  • Choose the template that best matches their use case before signup

Keep template names and descriptions customer-friendly. The previewer is most useful when customers can understand the intended use case, such as agency networks, school networks, franchise networks, or white-label hosting bundles.

Template picker at checkout

The template picker can be added to the signup checkout flow as a field. When configured, customers select the network template they want during checkout, and the selected template is used when their new network is provisioned.

To use the picker in a checkout flow:

  1. Prepare the networks you want to offer as templates.
  2. Enable the Multinetwork template selection field in the relevant signup or checkout form.
  3. Choose which templates should be available for that checkout flow.
  4. Publish the checkout flow and test a signup to confirm the selected template is applied to the new network.

If a checkout flow only offers one network product, the picker can still be useful as a guided onboarding step. For multi-plan funnels, expose only the templates that are compatible with the selected product or plan.

Cross-network magic link SSO lets customers move between their primary account area and sub-networks without manually signing in again. When a customer follows a cross-network access link, Ultimate Multisite generates a time-limited magic link and authenticates the customer into the destination network.

This improves the experience for customers who manage more than one network or who need to access newly cloned template networks immediately after purchase.

Admin checklist:

  • Confirm the Multinetwork addon is active across the WordPress multisite installation.
  • Make sure customers have the correct network access before they are offered cross-network links.
  • Keep network domains and mapped domains correctly configured so magic links resolve to the intended destination network.
  • Test the customer dashboard and any post-checkout access buttons after changing network, domain, or checkout settings.

Magic links should be treated as login links. They are designed for seamless customer access and should not be forwarded or reused outside the intended session.
